Every year, Danish design magazine Bo Bedre recognizes “…the stars that shine the brightest in the Danish design sky”. This year, six awards are given out, and we’re excited to announce that two of our products as well as three of our associated designers have been nominated!
Furniture piece of the year: Knot Chair by Tatsuo Kuroda
Bo Bedre has nominated the Knot Chair, praising designer Tatsuo Kuroda for his original interpretation of Danish design. Bo Bedre describes the chair as unique, with strong references to designers like Børge Mogensen and Hans J. Wegner.
Lamp of the year: Hive by Nicolai Wiig Hansen
We’re thrilled that our Hive Lamp has been nominated as lamp of the year. Hive has been nominated for its beauty and strong graphical expression as well as its clever construction, which makes it collapsible for easy transportation.
Designer Nicolai Wiig Hansen is a familiar face here at Normann Copenhagen, having created both the Hive Lamp, the Tablo Table and the Geo Vacuum Flask.
Designer of the year: HolmbäckNordentoft and Iskos-Berlin
Sebastian Holmbäck and Ulrik Nordentoft joined forces in 2008 to create HolmbäckNordentoft and have won numerous awards. The duo has created both Light House and Peeler for us.
Russian Boris Berlin and Ukrainian Aleksej Iskos make out the designer duo Iskos-Berlin. The duo is nominated as Designer of the Year for creating pieces that “…creep into the convolutions of the brain and stay there” with their humorous approach to design. This notion is excellently exemplified in the Bunny Chair they created for Normann Copenhagen.
Break-through of the year: Simon Legald
Simon Legald is nominated by Bo Bedre for his strong foundation in the Danish design tradition and his talent for interpreting it in order to create his own personal expression. Simon Has created both the Onkel Sofa, the Sumo Pouf, the Block Table and the Toj Clothes Rack for Normann Copenhagen.
